S.W.I.S.
This Government initiative has been placing Social Workers in low-decile schools for several years now
and our Centre employs the Social Workers in Schools (SWIS) for Mangere who work with families from
the following Mangere schools:
-
Favona Road School
-
Sir Douglas Bader Intermediate
-
Jean Batten Primary School
-
Mountain View Primary
-
Mangere Central School
-
Te Kura Kaupapa Maori a Rohe O Mangere
-
Southern Cross Campus Junior and Middle Schools
Our team consists of David Pepe-John, June Matthews-Minarapa, Mahue Greaves and Makere
Rangihuna-Togiamua. They are available in each of their schools 2 days a week, and their job is to be
available to staff, students and families who may have concerns about children's wellbeing. They also
provide programmes to develop resiliency and skills in our young people. They can be contacted through
the school or at centre.
